Big Sky

This is me, kind of looking like I belong on the cover of The Last Song. Not that I've actually seen it, since you know, I only watch about one movie per year and I prefer it to be a good one not starring Miley Cyrus. I also see it's based on a Nicholas Sparks book, which I do not understand. Why does everyone love Nicholas Sparks? Everyone dies. It's like the Lurlene McDaniel books I read as a kid. I know life's tough, but shit. You've written 70 young adult novels, and someone's kicked the bucket in every one of them. That doesn't make for something I'm dying to read (pun intended). So here, Nicolas Sparks and Lurlene McDaniel, have this, start whistling Zipadeedoodah, and write something happy. Kthxbye.

Anyway, back on topic. I got this Free People top via Gilt, and I think it's delicious. I wore it to the beach for a picnic earlier in the week when it was actually nice out. Tall boots + sand = the shit. Seriously. Put away the flip flops and bring out the boots. Go to the beach and enjoy not getting a single grain of sand in your shoes. At the Hop

So, that pompadour I mentioned a few posts back? This was the extent of it. Please note how it is not actually a pompadour. Please note how it just looks like a bird began its spring nest building on my head. All part of the charm.

I've been listening to a lot of 50s music lately (Music to Roll Your Top Down To, anyone? How 'bout American Diner Classics?) which explains the slight greaser influence seen here. And I'm wearing pink leather. That bitch Sandy can go suck it. I always hated that movie.

Candy

I like this outfit because it almost makes me look like a real girl rather than the circus midget that I am. I'm rocking 5+" heels underneath those chambray pants or else they'd be dragging all over the place. I'm an earthy tones kind of girl, so of course I kept the look mostly neutral, but--since after all, it IS spring--I decided to throw in a little bit of color for y'all. Yeah yeah, you're welcome.

I know you've seen this bag a million times and probably will request to be buried with it when I'm dead, but whatever.

Okay, so a lot of you asked me about my opinions on The Hunger Games in the last post, so here we go: I saw the movie on Friday and wasn't overly impressed. I mean, there wasn't anything technically wrong with it, but it lacked a little bit of the magic for me. Jennifer Lawrence is a babe (I wish she'd keep her hair dark in real life. But somewhere, someone probably thinks that about me and I refuse to give in, too). Josh Hutcherson is not, much to my dismay, but he did a good Peeta so I'll cut him some slack. Fuck, I'm shallow. Anyway, all that being said, I'd still gladly accompany anyone who hasn't yet seen it but would like to and doesn't want to go alone like I did. As long as they buy my ticket. As for the books, I'm currently about 70 pages in to the last one and am finding it a little dull, but I shall carry on. Oh, and I'm on Team Peeta. I mean Peeniss. Okay.

It feels good to have something to fangirl over.

Easy Does It

Another day, another casual look that hopefully doesn't make me look like a slob. I'm so boring lately. But I'm planning on giving myself a pompadour in the near future, so that should spruce things up a bit.

Otherwise, my life has consisted of work and homework. Homework and work. And maybe a little bit of The Hunger Games. I just finished the first book and I didn't want to like it, but I did. I really, really did. I think I might sneak out and go to the movie tomorrow. By myself. Because I can't wait any longer.

Slouch

One of my biggest fashion challenges is not looking like a slob on days I don't go balls out wearing an outfit of champions. No, really. You would be ashamed. I'm a slob. So, I'm trying to change that, and this is the result. Casual, but still mostly put together. Badabing badaboom. Giggity giggity. Okay, I'm done.

That's all I got right now. I'm stockpiling my words for the 20 page paper I'm about to start in on. What an awesome way to spend the weekend!

Sky Island

If there was a blogger yearbook, I think I'd be labelled as "most inconsistent." Oops. But whatever, I have good reasons. Most bloggers don't post when they're on vacation, period, and then a few hours after I got off the plane, I got struck down with the dreaded stomach flu. I'm feeling better now, but I have so much school work to catch up on that I still might be a bit absent in blog-world for a while. Bear with me, y'all.

Anyway, these pictures are from last week when my dad and I took a drive up Mount Lemmon Highway (also known as Catalina Highway, Sky Island Scenic Byway, Arizona Forest Highway 39, and, last but definitely not least, General Hitchcock Highway). It's a one hour drive that starts at Tucson's desert floor and climbs over 6,000 ft until you nearly get to the summit of Mount Lemmon (the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains). We stopped in Summerhaven (see map), which is at the top, and then pulled off at Windy Point (yellow star on map). We watched some guys rock climbing (like, real rock climbing. Not the fake rock climbing I did on my birthday) and walking across a rope in between two peaks. I also trekked through some rough terrain in heels and kicked that rough terrain's rough azz. Seriously, if you ever find a pair of Doc Martens sandals, buy them. They are amazing.
