Minty Fresh

I guess mint is trendy this season, so I'm right in style with this green skirt I got from Steffy's Tea and Tulips last year. I haven't been wearing too many fabulous outfits out here since a lot of my time has been spent either hiking or lying half-naked by the pool, so it felt good to put this on for an afternoon of shopping.

OH! And this is the lovely necklace Tracy gave me a few days ago for my birthday. Isn't it stunning? I mean, it should be, since I originally picked it out, but you know. I'll give her some credit, too.

I don't have much else to say today. Tired. Could sit and stare at nothing for hours. Zoning out. Zzz zzz. It's that kind of day.

Flower Power

Overall, I'm having a grand old time out here in the desert. We did some outdoorsy things yesterday, so today I'm ready for an afternoon of shopping, even though I think I only have about $4 left, because I spent lotsa money over the weekend at the 4th Avenue Street Fair in Tucson (post coming soon). That's where I got these lovely beautiful earrings. They're super lightweight, but still great quality.

In other news, I am tired of keeping an OCD-like eye out for snakes. I saw two yesterday. TWO. They're out there, people. Here's proof.

Easy, Breezy, Boring & A Blogger Meet-up

This is the boring outfit I wore for about two hours yesterday before I got frustrated and took it off. Tight belts + vacations do not equal a good time. And I have a whole duffle bag full of them. I may or may not have been high while I was packing.

As some of you may already know, I had the fanfuckingtastic opportunity to meet up with Tracy of The Closet Shopper and her husband over the weekend. She was on vacation in Arizona too, so we got together for a little meet and greet. Tracy is one of my bestest blogging buddies and I feel like I've known her for years, so meeting her for the first time wasn't weird at all. We laughed. We cried. We pee'd. Together. In two-part harmony. Angels smiled in heaven. It was magical.




We had dinner at an Indian restaurant (which was my first experience with Indian food, because I'm an uncultured hick) followed by om-nom-nom gelato. Tracy came bearing birthday gifts, which was totally uncalled for but um, of course I scooped that shit up. Along with a scarf from H&M and a lollypop (tee hee), she got me the GORGEOUS metal bar necklace off of my birthday wishlist. I know, right?! Expect to see more pictures of it VERY soon.

Needless to say, it was a great time. Real-life Tracy is the exact same as blog-world Tracy, only a little more ripped looking. Sweater Weather

This is me, oddly looking like the poster child for the Aryan race. Why the hell am I so blonde? I swear, I don't look like this in real life. I mean, it's not like I look like this or anything, but you know.

We took these shots yesterday on a cool, foggy evening. And by we, I mean myself and my estranged boyfriend, because lately every time we hang out I've been making him gently suggesting he take pictures of me for the ol' blog, because let's face it: after nearly two years of taking your own pics with a tripod and self-timer, that shit gets a little old. He's a good sport about it too, especially because photoshoots can be dangerous. For the record, it was not my idea to hike down that slippery, muddy hill to get to a better location.

Anyway, I picked up this sweater earlier in the week at my favorite local department store for a total steal. I think it was like, $9.60 or something on super-clearance. There's not even anything wrong with it.

Palazzo

Warning: This is not a skirt. They're actually a pair of palazzo pants, which are really comfy and really cool but go straight up my ass crack. But Ashley, how can a pair of pants be comfy and go up your ass crack at the same time? I'm not sure. But they are, and I like it.

This week has the potential to be the week from hell. I'm picking up extra shifts at work and I started a new class. I still need to pack and get some loose ends tied up (I totally sound like a mafia boss...ehhhh, Michael, I want you to have a telephone man check all the calls going in and out of here...it could be ANYONE!) before I leave at the end of the week. Photoshoot I mentioned in my last post got postponed because one of the subjects walked into a door or some shit, which I'm kinda grateful for (you know, minus the black eye and stuff) since I already have enough on my plate right now.

Orange and Grey

It's paper-bag trouser weather again, and I couldn't be happier. These are totally my favorite pair of non-denim trousers. They're silky, they're comfy, and they're in a ridiculous color. I have them in yellow, too.

My hair is such a mess but I'm still on the fence about what I want to do with it. Chop it off even more (I'm think a la Rachel last summer) or grow it out so it's long for summer. I know what I'm leaning towards. Can you guess? Hint: I'm super low maintenance when it comes to hair (as you can tell *cough cough*).

In other news, my friends and family have been pushing me to get into the lifestyle photography business for yearz, and my ex/estranged boyfriend decided it was finally time, so he went balls out and booked a photoshoot for me next week two days before I leave for vacation. So I'm going to be scrambling this weekend to get everything set up with that (back-up batteries & memory cards, photo release documents, clearing up enough space on my hard-drive because I literally only have 2 free gigs left, etc...) along with everything else. It's going to be a busy week. But, since I'm Miss Type A who thrives on busy-ness, I think I'll survive.

Fresh and Clean

As I mentioned a while ago, I kind of went a little crazy with the shopping lately (a.k.a. fully enjoying that tax return) and thus have a shit ton of new stuff to show you guys. These are just a few new things in my wardrobe...

1: Zara leather jacket my mom got me for my birthday. SCORE.
2. Fossil watch my mom also got me for my birthday. DOUBLE SCORE.

Soft Focus

These pictures are from my birthday a few days ago. Just so you know, I would like to be wearing fabulous shoes. God knows I have enough of them. But when it's slushy and shitty out, a girl must be smart. And I mean, I suppose I could have dressed a little more birthday fab than this. But I needed a versatile outfit for the day's events, which consisted of quite the variety of things, including a little wine and climb*.

One thing I hate is how much birthdays and other holidays (because after all, my birthday should be a national holiday) revolve around food. Don't get me wrong, I love food, but fuck man. Just because it's March 6th and I was born on this day 22 years ago doesn't necessarily mean I want to stuff myself silly with cake. I don't even like cake that much (at least not of the baked variety...cake batter? Whole 'nother story). So instead of revolving my day around food, I chose to focus on a physical activity (rock wall climbing). And instead of cake, we picked up a few lighter chocolately treats. It was a nice change.

I'm on a health kick, can you tell?

In other news, it's snowing, I'm crying, and I'm off to Arizona in two weeks. CANNOT WAIT.

Marzo

It's March. Life is good. My birthday is in four days. I leave for Arizona in three weeks. I have one more paper to write and I'm done with class until the 19th. We set the clocks ahead soon. Woo to the hoo, brah.

But it's still that in-between time as far as clothing goes, which gets on my nerves. I'm. So. Tired. Of. Layering. But I still love this jacket, which is a few years old and by Nightcap Clothing. Two major downsides? 1. It came with a very strange odor that I cannot get rid of, no matter how many times I wash it, and 2. The pockets make my hands look freakeh, yow. Other than that, it's golden.
