This is me, kind of looking like I belong on the cover of The Last Song. Not that I've actually seen it, since you know, I only watch about one movie per year and I prefer it to be a good one not starring Miley Cyrus. I also see it's based on a Nicholas Sparks book, which I do not understand. Why does everyone love Nicholas Sparks? Everyone dies. It's like the Lurlene McDaniel books I read as a kid. I know life's tough, but shit. You've written 70 young adult novels, and someone's kicked the bucket in every one of them. That doesn't make for something I'm dying to read (pun intended). So here, Nicolas Sparks and Lurlene McDaniel, have this, start whistling Zipadeedoodah, and write something happy. Kthxbye.
Anyway, back on topic. I got this Free People top via Gilt, and I think it's delicious. I wore it to the beach for a picnic earlier in the week when it was actually nice out. Tall boots + sand = the shit. Seriously. Put away the flip flops and bring out the boots. Go to the beach and enjoy not getting a single grain of sand in your shoes. Thank me with hugs or gift of cash. You're welcome.
Top: Free People
Shorts: Calvin Klein
Boots: Steve Madden
OMG those Lurlene McDaniel books, I read them all even though every single one was so sad and depressing. Looking back I'm like, why did I waste my time on those? Especially when you're already a sullen awkward pre-teen, you don't need more angst in your life.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite an awesome top! Perfect to wear out on the beach, for sure. And not loving sand all that much I really love the idea of boots on the beach. I must try it.
HOTTIE!!! This outfit is lovely {that top - wow!} and the location is just stunning!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I really couldn't agree more about Nicholas Sparks novels. I enjoyed The Notebook like every other 15 year old girl at the time, but anything with Miley Cyrus is a big no for me. I hope he takes your notes and writes a novel about a happy, leaping kitten. Now THAT I would read.
xxx,
Alex
You're looking SO stunning <3
ReplyDeleteAnd yep, I've seen the last song, shame on me. My friends forced me into seeing it, and guess what I liked it! I thought it would be your average girl meets boy and especially with the bad performance of Miley. But it touches severe subjects, like cancer and death. It was quite moving...
I dont quite understand the love of his books either. I mean I did read The Notebook and have seen the movie once or twice (or fifty times) but I feel like all his books are the same. No thank you.
ReplyDeleteBoots are on the beach are a great idea. Consider yourself hugged.
LOVE this look - I was going to say you look like you came out of a Free People catalogue...totally gorgeous. And I agree - Nicholas Sparks is SUCH a downer. So is Miley Cyrus, so no wonder she was in that movie. Is that mean? Oops :)

Those sleeves! Stunning. Also boots on the beach = the best! Apart from last time I wore boots to the beach a dog decided to pee on my foot... Maybe he thought it was a tree? x
ReplyDeleteLove that top!! Free People is awesome ;) The outfit looks great, I need a new pair of denim shorts...
ReplyDeleteAnd yea...I don't really enjoy Nicholas Sparks stuff...its too depressing and lovey dovey, haha
Here are some better pics of those wedges I wore on Thursday: http://www.closet-fashionista.com/2012/03/outfit-touch-of-spring-outnet-clearance.html
That top is perfection I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove the top! You look stunning =) X

BAHAHAHAHA. Why do I have a nagging suspicion that you've already seen The Last Song multiple times? And coordinated this outfit based on your collage of Miley Cyrus posters? I kid, of course. You loook gawjus! in that beautiful top.

Aaaaaaaas usual, you look awesome, I'm going to rob your closet, etc.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I've read one Nick Sparks book, and I can't remember what it was called. Dear John, I think. I don't think I'll ever watch The Last Song because I can't stand Miley's twang accent. I'm also sick of her face. I had to see it plastered all over Walmart during high school, so no way in hell am I going to subject myself to that for an hour and a half or however long the movie is.
Amazing top. And boots in the sand? You're a genius. I'm nominating you for a Nobel Prize.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - sometimes its nice and so much less stressful to watch a movie where I don't have to bawl my eyes out, because I'm the biggest crier. I've even been known to shed a tear during a romcom or two. I'm not proud, but it happens.
ReplyDeleteAs for the top, gorgeous.
as for the boots - I don't really mind getting my toes in the sand. I think it's part of the experience. and standing at the edge of the water and letting the waves slide over your toes.
Chic on the Cheap
I love that top - it looks so 70s! The lace detailing is gorgeous!

Wow, that's a gorgeous top! And I'm quite jealous that you're at the beach. You lucky b****. But I still adore you. I have never seen The Last Song either. I probably never will. I don't watch a lot of movies either, except for Star Wars.

You're so purrrddy! Love the detailing on the top and great beach tip- I hate me some wet sandy feet! I will admit to watching Last Song...with my father...true story.
ReplyDeleteThis top is amazingly pretty. Definitely great on a windy day, I imagine. And what you're in shorts? It's going to be 59 tomorrow in New York. 59. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteAwesome outfit, you look so summery and carefree, love the top too. Gorgeous pictures, as always. :) (I'm totally guilty of reading a few Nicholas Sparks books...and I love the movies...lol, sorry)

Really pretty, & i agree with you about the boots - although sand doesnt tend to bother me tooooo much :p I'm really glad i stumbled upon your blog! its awesome and you take great photos.
ReplyDeleteAMEN, Ashley, AMEN. Getting sand in your shoes = NO. Next time, I guess I'll try boots and pull off a Last Song look like you haha. I prefer not to see movies with Miley Cyrus in them as well...eh. But I do want to see the Lucky One! Mainly because of Zac Efron...haha.
ReplyDeleteWell, you look AMAZING. The usual.

I think Nicholas Sparks has some kind of psychological disorder. He is obsessed with death and all things sad. Remind me to never attend one of his dinner parties.

Haha yes, Nicholas Sparks must be a very depressed or repressed man to write some of the stories he has told, I however, like to Notebook. I have only even seen the music video to the last song and I did think about it when I first saw your outfit. BEAUTIFUL outfit btw, I love the boots :)

You SO could be in the last song haha... probably would have been a better actress too, but that's another story. Gorgeous, as always! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great look on you! And I would have rather watched you in The Last Song than Myley Cyrus. I probably spelled her name wrong, didn't I?
ReplyDeletelove the top...very breezy
