Subtle Pattern Mixing

This is how I mix patterns without being all in your face about it. Dots, meet plaid. Plaid, meet dots. I absolutely dig this skirt: it's a short little vintage number that can be dressed up or down. I really had to fight myself to keep from wearing it with a band tee and leather. That would just be too expected. And we can't have that now, can we?

I wanted to thank y'all for being so mature in your comments on the last post. Whether you agree or disagree with my views doesn't matter: it's the fact that you're acceptant of them that really gets my jollies on. Judgement is ugly. I'd like to respond to each comment individually, but I haven't exactly figured out a good way to do that yet. So just know that your thoughts are appreciated!

We're gearing up for a snowstorm, which has absolutely sucked out all of my energy and replaced it with cravings for hot chocolate and carbs. Lots and lots of carbs.

  1. I read "carbs" as "crabs." Dyslexic moment there. I just looked down and saw that, then read backwards toward the hot chocolate. I am now picturing crab legs being dunked in hot chocolate. FML.

I really like the jacket and tights. I don't really like red plaid things, so you can imagine I'm not in love with the skirt. It looks nice on you, though. (Uh, what doesn't?). I'm staring into my closet and realizing I don't have anything that's plaid. Lolz. Looks like someone is obsessed with orange/pink/yellow, floral, and animal print these days. Hilarious considering I hated those colors as a kid/younger teenager.

  4. Nice! I love the mix. I want to do more pattern mixing but I am so intimidated by the task. I guess I just need to get over it lol

I happen to totally agree with your feelings in the last post. When I was younger I was so starry eyed, but now I don't know that I want to be officially married. Love itself is sacred and it doesn't need the stamp of approval from a religious or government figure.

    Always love reading your blog,

  11. Wow, look at all that snow! And expecting more?? I wish for one good snow before this winter is out. Alas, it doesn't look like it's going to happen here in NC this year.
I absolutely LOVE the plaid and polka dots. I really need to expand my shorts/tights repertoire!

  12. Loving that plaid skirt - I could totally see you rockin' it with the band tee & leather, and maybe some black lipstick - but I'm glad you kept it simple and just added some dots! Mmm hot chocolate and carbs? 2 of my faves - happy indulging :)

  13. I want that skirt! I actually had a similar one in high school and probably wore it with at least the band tee you mention, but I wasn't quite edgy enough to go for the leather, lol. I love it with the dots on your tights, it's really cute.

Hope you're doing all right with the snow up there, we got the lovely ice/snow mix down here in the Cities and it's just a party on the roads. :P

I love the subtle print mixing, this plaid skirt is AWESOME. And it would look badass with the band tee and leather jacket. I love it with this jacket too though!

  18. I really love this mix. The plaid skirt is lovely but the polka dotted hose are such an amazing touch. It's the jacket that is making me sweat though. I mean, sweat like my palms are all sweaty with lust that I really want it! Did that make sense even?

Your bday present is being shipped to me right now!!! So, I will have it when I see you in AZ!
