I'm having a fab weekend, and I hope you are too! Hives are totally cleared up...I don't have to work...my birthday is coming up...I'm heading to sunny skies in a week...Life. Is. Good. I spent some quality time at the mall with my momma this morning and found some really awesome deals. Remember those scarf hangers I was talking about in my last post? I found them on sale for 50% off, so I bought six of them. I also picked up a few other goodies, including another pair of boyfriend jeans (since, clearly, I love them) and a polka-dot scarf that will work great in my hair.

I got this Nanette Lepore coat a few years ago when I was down with spending $400 on one item of clothing. It kills me to think of it now, especially because only a month or two after I bought it, I lost a good 20 lbs and it's been too big ever since. Oh well. Live and learn, I guess.

I'm off to go continue cleaning my room. I hate when you KNOW you own something but, because you can never find it, you think maybe you imagined owning it and you never really had it at all. That's how I feel about the hat I'm looking for, except I know I own it because I've taken pictures of myself in it before. And really, how many places can a giant floppy hat hide?

The plaid fad

My hives have almost totally cleared up, thank the lawd. I'm feeling much better and like I'm back on my game (who knew allergic reactions could be so exhausting?). I'm not working much the next couple of days, so I'm excited to do a little bit of pre-spring cleaning. I'm for realz about this organization "resolution" I made at the beginning of the year. I'm even going as far as to buy a chest of drawers for my bedroom so I can get all my clothes off the floor. And check out these nifty scarf hangers! I saw a similar one at the mall last weekend for the same price and walked away because I think $10 for one is a little expensive, especially when I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too hard to make the same thing myself, but seeing as how I don't have a saw, I don't have wood, and--let's face it--I definitely don't have any woodworking skills to speak of, I suppose I'll just pony up and buy a few.

As you can see, for reasons unknown, I'm still trying to rock a slight 90's vibe. You can't go wrong with a plaid shirt right now. You can go wrong with where you buy the plaid shirt, however. I got this one at Target last year and all of the buttons fell off within about 3 months.

Kitsch

I am currently covered head to toe in hives, so instead enjoy these pictures from last week, when I was still normal.

Look at that innocent face! Little did last-week-me know I was going to react negatively to a generic form of a medication I just got switched to. It all started early Sunday morning (like, 3 a.m. early Sunday morning, yo) when I woke up nauseous. Then, Sunday evening I began getting itchy and bust out the hives. I decided to stop taking the pillz and switched back to my old ones the next day...but apparently it's taking a while for the old stuff to get out of my system, as I'm still full of the rash. Unfortunately, I'm also allergic to most common allergy meds, so I'm just grinning and bearing it (and swearing a lot, when the itching gets really bad) on my own. Today's been better than yesterday, so hopefully I'm on the road to recovery.

I haven't been online very much because of this, and I know I have a flood of emails sitting in my inbox. I'm off to go sift through them now, please bear with me! Fog city

I've always loved fog, I think because it makes any photograph you take more interesting. Speaking of photographs, I'm thinking of writing another post like this, but I don't know what topics it should cover. So, if you have any ideas, let me know!

Time has been flying by. In about two weeks, I will be A) turning 21 for the first time ever (as opposed to the second time, you know), and B) vacationing in the warm wonderland of Arizona. This month has been going by really quickly. It's weird.

I've been into outfits with a slight 90's vibe lately. I'd like to think this outfit is a bit reminiscent of Shannon Doherty in Mallrats (circa 1995). I think it's okay, as long as you stay with the early 90's, grunge look. Not that tacky, weird shit. I had acid wash jeans when I was 4. They had an elastic waistband.

I notice I've been doing this pose a lot lately. I don't quite know what I'm doing. Hand as an earmuff?


Smeary red lipstick, plaid, and a Levi's denim vest just reek of 90's grunge, don't they? My boyfriend got me this shirt (Alkaline Trio is a great band! Listen to their older stuff, it's better) and I haven't worn it all that much because I didn't know how to wear it and still look like my stylin' self. I whipped this outfit up over the weekend. What do you think?

The weather has been fabulous here lately. Almost 60°F at my house yesterday. In February. In Minnesota. Unfortunately, I had to work all day, but today isn't too bad, either (considering the average high temperature for this time is about 25°F). But, of course, what goes up must come down...I hear there's snow in the forecast for this weekend.

Oh shit, I'm blogging about the weather. Again. Anyway, in other news, did you all see my feature at Statements in Fashion? Check it out if you haven't! Thank you to Collette for thinking of me! I loved answering all the questions (I think it has something to do with being vain, but who knows).

Vee-Day

Happy Valentine's Day! I know it's just a commercial holiday, and I'm probably the first person you'd expect to bad mouth commercial holidays, but there's something about Valentine's Day that makes me happay. This year, the Hello Kitty surprise my boyfriend put together for me made my day. Hello Kitty chocolates...Hello Kitty trading cards...Hello Kitty stuffed animals...a Hello Kitty Nintendo DS game (I think it's for ages 7-12, but what the hell)..and a Hello Kitty popcorn tin. Yeah, I'm a Hello Kitty freak. My obsession actually started out as a joke, but recently I've developed a real, serious love for the kitteh. I managed to stay away from the Hello Kitty Sephora goodies, though, so it's not that bad.

In other news, it's warm as feck here (well...warm as feck for February, anyways) and I couldn't be happier.

I've had a lousy past couple of days, which practically sucked the life right out of me. I went to the mall to cheer myself up on Wednesday, thinking I could find a little materialistic treat to make me feel better (I had a $100 gift card, too, so my materialistic treat would be totally guilt-free!). But alas, I couldn't find one single thing that I absolutely had to have. I think it was the combination of A) the fact that the mall here really sucks, and B) I was in one of those moods where I really hate capitalism. So, although grudgingly (I interviewed for a job there last fall and never heard back from them), I trudged to Ulta, because I know I can always find some kind of cosmetic to make me happy. I picked up three nail polishes: a rubberized base coat from Orly that has solved all my problems (my nail polish always chipped or peeled off within a day...not anymore!), "Significant Other Color" by O.P.I., and the one pictured here from the new Texas collection. Oh, and I picked one up for one of you guys, too, just in time for Valentine's Day weekend. It's (mini-)giveaway time!

Sheer madness

I'm taking a very short break from my 12 hour work-day to present you with this post. I just can't wait 'till tomorrow, no sir. I'm kind of a weirdo when it comes to schedules. I like them. A lot. I prefer to post every other day, no more, no less, or else the galactic alignment might be thrown off and we'll all die. Or something. Yeah. Yeah! Oh, the delirium of long work days.

I've been really digging Forever 21 lately. Weird, because I used to be a snob and wouldn't touch anything from F21 with a 10 foot pole (yeah, I used to be one of those girls). I still don't love them by any means, mainly because I don't endorse full-on designer knock-offs, but what's a poor girl to do?

P.S. If you're wondering why I look exactly the same as I did in my last post, it's because I'm a cheater and took pictures of both outfits on the same day. I actually wore this one last weekend when I was celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, but didn't get a chance to get any pictures of it.

Someone asked me out for a drink yesterday. At work. Over the phone. Can you say awkward? It went something like this:

* You know. Never mind I have a boyfriend. Never mind I'm still under age, despite feeling like a middle-aged cat lady most of the time. Never mind that even if I wasn't under age, I don't really drink, anyway. Instead, I think I'll ramble something off about "breaching company policy." What?

P.S. To set things straight: I've met him in real life once before, so I assume he remembered my girlish good looks and charming way (but I'm sure he was turned on by my sexy, husky voice, too) and just couldn't get enough. Who can?

Oldies are goodies

This is almost a carbon copy of how high school Ashley dressed (except back then, I was still rockin' the blonde hair). I've had the skirt (which I realize I've been wearing an awful lately, despite supposedly hating it), the vest, and the bracelets since I've been 17. Always good to know you can still fit into clothes you wore in high school, although that's not really saying that much, considering I was at least 30 lbs heavier during part of my high school years (don't worry: I didn't get the skirt until after I dropped the weight).

Unfortunately, I don't have anything to blog about that I haven't mentioned a million times already. I'm still excited for my March trip to Arizona. I'm still tired of this cold weather. I'm still in the process of losing the 10 lbs I mentioned last post, and I haven't made any amusing slip-ups to report here. I'm still trying to save up money, so no new purchases to discuss (although, for the record, I did spend $33 on gasoline the other day, and $3.16 at the post office). I'm quite a boring person at the moment, actually. Boring, but cute.

Pleased to meet you

Ahh, February! We meet again. I'm excited for this month. All footlong sandwiches are $5 at Subway this month! I've actually stuck with my New Year's resolutions, and I'm ready to work on them even more. It's time to shed my figurative winter coat, so I've committed myself to losing 10lbs this month. Hopefully I should be "bikini ready" by then, since I booked my flight for my birthday trip in March! Six days in sunny Arizona, my favorite state (because, apparently, I am a senior citizen). The house we're staying at has a pool, but it's not heated, so I'm not sure if I even need to be bikini ready, but better safe than sorry, eh?

I treated myself to this coat at Forever 21 for $12. It's still available, so if you're interested, get on that shizz. It's ridiculously thin, but I still like it. And, for the record, I don't know what's up with my face in the first picture, but I don't like it.
