This leather jacket from Doma was somewhere in the $600s, making it my most expensive purchase ever. I never used to wear it so I always felt guilty for even purchasing it, but recently I've come to realize what a great piece it is and how versatile a single leather jacket can be. Plus, it has the potential to last for a very long time if I take care of it right. The perfect example of an investment piece.
I'm having a hard time adjusting now that I'm home, and I don't quite know why. Things are the same as before I left, but they're different to me somehow. Nothing excites me. Nothing inspires me. I'm not hungry, I'm not happy, I'm just tired. I feel like I'm living out a prison sentence.
Jacket: Doma
Tank top: Buffalo Exchange
Jeans: Eddie Bauer
Shoes: Steve Madden
Your jacket is beautiful--and so are your shoes. Definitely wear them both more!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you're so unhappy. Spring is coming now--getting out into the sunshine might help. Or, your gut might be telling you it's time to move on. I think that's what you're planning. Your plan is the right one.
I agree, right leather jacket is timeless and versatile piece!

Oh, sorry to hear about your melancholy, Ashley. Really sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe jacket and shoes are special.
There are a few things that break me out of a funk: finding something with a sense of purpose; trying a new activity; meeting old friends; spinning wild fantasies. Perhaps you can try one of these.
gorgeous and i adore those shoes!!

Adore your shoes!

That jacket is so beautiful! If it helps repeat to yourself - cost per wear, cost per wear - maybe that way you'll wear jacket more often ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm very tired too! Transition from winter to spring is very exhausting!
Thank you for your help! I've checked Shopbop already, unfortunately there isn't the ring I'm looking for. :(
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I ever thanked you, but thank you so much for giving me Angela's blog address, I e-mailed her. It was so thoughtful! Right now I am an Administrative Assistant at a Digital Marketing firm. It's your basic 9-5 job... not so creative :)

ReplyDeletegorrgeous jacket. i have serious clothes envy :)

i like the length of your pants
ReplyDeleteI think the jacket was a great investment. Looks great on you! I feel the same way when I come back from a trip. It's a little depressing for me. It takes me a week or two to get back into the swing of things.
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket and those shoes are fierce. I hope things get better for you soon. Is it the post-holiday blues?
ReplyDeleteNice outfit.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to hear you say how miserable you are
ReplyDeleteI think you missing all of that beautiful Vitamin D!!!
Your jacket is great and for that price, I would be wearing it everyday LOL
Hope you cheer up very soon and your mojo comes back in full force

that jacket is a stunner! love it!
ReplyDeletehope that u'll feel better soon, life is so unpredictable..
I do that with my expensive purchases as well - it's like I can only wear it on the specialest of occasions and it gets totally wasted.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can find some inspiration soon. I know the times without it are truly the most difficult.
Chic on the Cheap
Cute jacket! Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog. I hope you start feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great jacket and it fits you so well. I recently purchased a leather jacket too and NEVER wear it for fear that i`ll ruin it somehow.....must get over that!

You look spectacular and those shoes are incredible!
ReplyDeleteI was feeling the same way the other day, hence my own little blog rant. It takes a little something new to add some excitement to life, because once you realize that what you have already is so dull, it's difficult to switch back that mind set. Change things up a bit. ♥
$600!? Oh my gosh! But it does look amazing, and I swear everyone needs a good splurge piece in their closet. I'm still waiting for me to get my own. I've always envisioned that my splurge piece would be shoes that are over $800 or something.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can readjust to home - perhaps you're homesick for a different kind of home? But do feel better, Ashley <3

What you described as a prison sentence is exactly how I have felt since I got home from my travels in Australia. It is awful!
ReplyDeleteI adore your leather jacket though, such a great piece!
I love you sweetie. Call me if you need to talk. Xoxo, tracy
ReplyDeleteThat jacket is beautiful! I love your shoes, too. Sorry you're not feeling happy right now, but just think of the beautiful weather coming!
ReplyDeleteI love your jacket, Ashley! And the fence background!
ReplyDeletei love your jacket and shoes!

Agreed. The jacket is one of a kind. So are the shoes.
ReplyDeleteReally sorry to hear you're feeling low. But cheer up, spring is on its way! There's nothing that a bit of ol' sunshine can't fix :)
That's a fantastic jacket! You definitely should wear it more. I think it'd look especially great with a flowy/girly dress!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're having such a hard time at home. Hopefully it'll get better. I wish I could help.
BTW, I'm from LA ;)
Fabulous outfit!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely :)

Investment piece is what it is. You can pull it out every year and it will look current every time. I think it must be the change of seasons as I'm going thru' something similar. In our case the thought of a long winter is daunting. Planning on getting a lot of subshine this weekend
ReplyDeleteI do love the leather. Glad you've decided it's a worthwhile piece. Sometimes it takes us a while to fall in love with a purchase, but that can be great since when we finally start wearing it we feel like we got something for free ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your earrings. They look like delicate scrap metal arrangements.

ReplyDeleteIf it can make you feel better, I have to say you look very pretty as always. The jacket was definitly a good decision to buy. The shoes are very nice too, and it fits very well with the rest of the outfit. I wish one day I could have a blog as beautiful as yours :)
Leather jacket really looks good on you. And you're so pretty! Your hair is absolutely AMAZING. And I really love your profile description. Hooray, one person on earth besides of me who's not worshipping Coco Chanel.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about leather jackets! And those shoes are way hot :)
ReplyDeleteOK honey, thanks so much for adding me to your blogroll, I just did the same :)))) In case I haven't written it yet, this outfit is very lovely <3 I'm totally following your posts now, your style is very special <3
ReplyDeleteI felt like that about a week ago - I literally lived in my bed with my laptop and the office for a few days straight and I felt awful. Maybe it's not as big of a problem as what you're feeling, but exercising always helps me feel better. I can think when I'm running without my emotions really getting in the way. But maybe that's just me.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I love the jacket. I would love to get a great, timeless leather jacket at some point, and I realize it's going to have to be an investment piece. It looks fantastic with that fun printed tank top! Do you usually find good stuff at Buffalo Exchange? I was thinking of visiting the location near me, but wasn't sure if I would find anything good.
Halie

ReplyDeleteSometimes I find, when you've been somewhere, it really ignites a fire in you, inspires you, gives you a clear head and then coming back home to your ordinary routine can be quite stifling.(ive been there!!) Hang in there missy, something good is just around the corner, I can feel it!! :)

I know so well how you feel, I feel the same when I come home from a great (!) vacation (if it was a horrible one, I'm thankful to be home again *lol*), it takes me a while to become fully aware that I'm back home & get back to normal.
ReplyDeleteI love the jeans & how you compared it with the shoes. The tank top with the leather jacket looks really hot! & your hair color is gorgeous :-)
