Mellow Yellow

I got these high-waisted paper bag trousers from Urban Outfitters and I totally love them (although they are pretty delicate). I love the idea of a crop top and polka-dot scarf with them, so, you know, that's exactly what I wore. And then I marched off into the desert, sucked my food baby in, and had my boyfriend take a million and one pictures of me (and then I only post one on my blog, lulz). Ta da!

I'm having some issues at work so I haven't been feeling up to much lately. We got a new manager while I was on vacation (background story: the store I work for just opened last fall and they never hired a manager until now) and she isn't my cup of tea. It's kind of a slap in the face when you just graduated college AND have management experience yourself and you're being micromanaged by a girl a couple of years older than you who hasn't finished school, has seemingly ONLY worked in bars, and talks about drinking beer all day. I'm obviously overqualified for my job, anyway, and was planning to quit by June...but something tells me it might be sooner than that. I've even considered buying a one-way ticket back to Arizona.

Crop top: Free People
Trousers & sunglasses: Urban Outfitters
Gladiator sandals: Doc Martens

  2. OOh, you sexy mama you! (Sorry, that's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw your photo, I don't mean to sound like a 65 year old dirty man.) I LOVE your trousers!

Sorry to hear about the sucky situation at work. I'm not a fan of micromanagers either!

but on a happier note, I love these pictures! I haven't been to Arizona in forrreever, I need to go back soon! you look great in yellow pants, maybe I need to venture out of my comfort zone and get some..

  6. Pretty pants that look good on you.

I guessed you were going through trouble at work, after reading your tweet a few days ago and then hearing the silence that followed. Sorry to hear about this. The position is merely a transitional one and will soon be just a memory. Good luck.

  8. Sorry to hear about the trouble at work, Ashley. Your situation doesn't sound very fun, and it's frustrating to think how overqualified you are for your job.

Love your outfit though! You always pull off what I would consider to be daring pieces (for me, that is) in a way that is simple and elegant. Also, I really love the backdrop of your photo. And your new (slash maybe not that new, I've been gone a while) brunette look!

  10. Ugh, people are so intimidated by younger employees that actually happen to know stuff! You rocked this. That is the perfect look for those pants.

  11. I love the cut of those pants
I am not a yellow girl, but those pants are terrific.
So sorry about the work problems.
Sucks to be overqualified doesn't it.
I am always telling my family I am overqualified to run this household. LOL
Hope things turn around soon or another opportunity pops up for you

  14. Those trousers are quite awesome, and I agree, polka dots were the right choice.

Sorry about the job drama, hope you find something better soon!

  15. Those pants are magnificent. I'm so jealous of them. As in, intensely jealous. As in, you may want to hide them... just kidding, but seriously. :]

Sorry about the work drama. I worked at a pizza place for two years in high school - it changed ownership three times in that time period. It was awful because I was 17, a supervisor, and these new owners had no idea what they were doing, but they never wanted to listen to a whipper snapper like me. Ugh. New managers/bosses are always kind of a lame situation.

  17. You look gorgeous, honey. I love my paperbag pants too. They are fun and comfortable. And if I was 21 and smok'n hot, like you, I would wear a crop top as well.

Quit your job and fly to Arizona tomorrow and we can hang out! I'm so selfish.

    xoxo,

I have to say I admire your lovely, curvy body in that pic!!
After changing 50 jobs and having serious "authority issues" with plenty beer-drinking managers, I can only say - DITCH THE SUCKERS!
(if only managers in the world knew how to actually manage....!Ha)

  28. lovely outfit! You look stunning!
I'm very sorry for job issue and I do understand the way you feel about your job. (I've had a similar situation when the other guys (most of them had less experience than I did) from my dept. got their salary higher but I didn't). It's a sad may to say 'hello' to your new job but new job would be better for sure.

  29. Amazing shot of you. Great pose and rocking the sunnies.

I know how it goes with crappy managers. Sounds like you need to make a break for it. A one way ticket sounds exciting :)

  30. This is such a great outfit. I've been looking for an awesome pair of trouser pants and these may just be them! Hang in there with your boss, its always a sucky situation but I totally suggest looking for a different job so you can get out of there!

  31. 90's continue to reign! Love it!
Uneducated bosses are the worst! When I worked in retail those many years ago my manager's experience was more or less like yours. What I did - I ignored her as much as I could, but I didn't stay there for long either.

  32. This outfit is phenomenal! You look stunning!

Sorry to hear about the job situation. :( That sucks. From my experience, I feel like a lot of unexperienced people, when put in managerial positions, tend to powertrip, micromanage, and get big egos. I've definitely dealt with sucky managers, but you gotta have bad bosses to teach you how NOT to act, right? So, when you're a manager/boss one day, you will be so much better than this girl!

Sorry to hear about your problems at work, I can imagine how s*cky the situation is & I hope you'll find something better asap. (I only hope the "manager" doesn't drink the beer she talks about at work?! ;-))

  39. I like this new midriff exposure! I wish I was brave enough to go out like this. But I am not.

Your job situation sounds terrible, but I understand what you mean about being overqualified. I applied for a bunch of jobs (no one called me back) and realized that no one cares how well you do in school or how smart you are. Unfortunate, isn't it? Maybe you're just overqualified for life.
