So, although I think this is kinda an obvious statement now, I made my way to Arizona safe and sound. The airport itself wasn't particularly fun. I mean, I know airports are never really a good time, but this trip was especially unpleasant. To make a long story short, I: A) got chosen to go through the new nakey X-ray machine, B) got severely scolded because I forgot my cell phone in my pocket, C) had said cell phone briefly confiscated from me, and D) got frisked*. Thank you, airport people, for a great 21st birthday gift.
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! I'll be catching up with emails and comments very soon...still trying to get settled in here!
* If you just went through the See-You-Naked machine...is being frisked really necessary? You can stop feeling my thigh now. I know it looks bulkier than your average thigh, but I swear it's just cellulite.

Awww, why must airports be so miserable! Sorry they made you go through the nakey x-ray and then harassed your thighs.
ReplyDeleteHope you still had an amazing b-day, and I love those wedges!

Phew, I am so behind Ashley- I'm trying to catch up too!
ReplyDeleteNumero uno- Happy 21st Birthday!! I'm glad to hear that you made it safe and sound to Arizona, but that definitely sucks about all the extra security you had to go through! Forget all that though and just have a blast in Arizona! Also, love this look you're sporting =)
eurgh airport security is grim, your skirt on the other hand is gorgeous! have an amazing trip! x
ReplyDeleteUgh @ heightened airport security stuff. It's creepy. I hope I never get to go through it - is it just me or are the guards at every airport really fat, creepy looking men?
ReplyDeletexo Sherrie
First of all, I'm loving your flowy skirt/warm weather outfit. Second of all, I'm sorry to hear about the security! That happened to me in Europe, so not only was I getting frisked but they were speaking at me in French. Have fun in Arizona!
ReplyDeletethat's why i don't like airports :(( they ask you to remove all things, and go through the x-ray machine! such a hassle, but our protection is their only concern :) anyway, love the skirt on you!
ReplyDeletehappy 21st birthday!
ReplyDeleteplease have a look at my new blog, im hosting a giveaway.

Ugh. airports. One of the main reasons I don't take a liking to them. That's horrible that they had you go through all that. Hopefully the airport security doing the frisking was some sexy tall and handsome guy! But I doubt that was exactly case since it never seems to be unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful 21st birthday otherwise! ♥
Ahhh - the joy of airports and security people!! After spending many days in different airports of Greece (I practically live in an airport during summer months - check this post here) I feel for you even more!! I love the look! Have you ever watched the movie "Arizona" (by Emir Kusturica)? Nice movie! Kisses!
ReplyDeleteAirports can be so annoying!
ReplyDeleteI love your skirt though ;)
♥
This look is fantastic... I love the floaty skirt and the pink sunglasses!
ReplyDeleteI get sent through the naked machine every time I go through the states. I think they can sense the rebellion bubbling inside me. And I always get the third degree from airport staff: when I was living in Mexico one of them asked me, "Why would you want to live there?" Ummm.
Anyway, this is my first time here, and a) your blog is great, and b)I can't tell you how much I love your "about me." Yes yes yes!
You look gorgeous hunnie....NOT a nice way to have birthday wishes, for sure, lol....so happy to see you snow free!! I know the feeling....we got put through that little baby too.....its like umm...."please"?
ReplyDeleteHave fun..be safe!!!

Thanks for your comment, lovely - and a very happy belated birthday (if I hadn't said so already!).
ReplyDeleteAhhh airports... I'm not the biggest fan of flying and airports always make the experience worse. The longggg wait, the expensiveness of food + drink and this frisking you mentioned. One time my bag beeped as it went through security and I'm not kidding, they tipped it upside down and made a mess of everything. No delicate treatment in case of breakables - pure brutality. Then they tell me to move along and I have a million items to try and balance in my arms. And when you re-pack, things never fit like they did the first time you packed :S
At least you got to Arizona and had a nice birthday trip :) x x

i know airports can be very annoying and in ur cause very very annoying! it is also quite scary sometimes, they make u feel like a criminal when u go through the x-ray:P
ReplyDeleteabout the outfit: i love the skirt! it has a very 50's feel but with 2011 elements :) x i adore the sunglasses!
LOVE those sandals! And UGH!!! I really don't want to go to the airport later this month...I'm so nervous I'm gonna have to go through the thingy :(

Sorry about the bad experience. I try to avoid flying for that reason, but sometimes it's unavoidable. At least you're there so the fun can begin!
ReplyDeleteThat sucks!
ReplyDeleteI agree why x-ray and frisk
On a happier note... your skirt is absolutely fabulous!
Hope you have a great birthday week and soak up all the sunshine.

your thigh isn't bulky, haha
ReplyDeleteI actually LIKE airports but I'm probably insane. I like the excitement of people and cultures and languages and things HAPPENING there. Your skirt is beautiful. Happy birthday

You look gorgeous, as usual! Thank you for the birthday wishes by the way, I hope yours was awesome!
ReplyDeleteBy the way..I think those x ray machines are re-donkulous. Some of these people that do the pattings are just pervs, they were probably just enjoying the patting of your thigh too much -sigh- ....Those security people suck dirt!
ReplyDeleteSo who was in charge - 2 over-frisky young ociffers fancying to have a closer look at you?
ReplyDeleteAnyway - hello sun! Enjoy, Ashley.
in total love with your airy skirt!and you are SOOO pretty!!!

ReplyDeleteAnd can I say it - I'm jealous very much! You're in a place without snow!!! OMG, I'm green from jealousy! Good thing - green looks good on me! lol
Loving this beautiful photo & your skirt, it's so, so lovely paired with the strappy shoes. Happy Birthday! xx veronika
ReplyDeletei know what you mean, airports have really become insanely annoying...but I guess all the security is there for a purpose so what can you do. You look great in this pic, I really like your skirt
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous. I love your floaty skirt and your scarf is beautiful. Great to see you in a warmer clime.
ReplyDeleteI hate airports too. I got my carrot juice confiscated the other day because I forgot I couldn't take it through security. When I asked if I could drink it there, the security guy told me "this isn't an effing cafeteria". No fun at all. Hope you have a great time now you're there.
Cellulite on your great bod? I don't think so! You look fab- love the maxi skirt! Happy Belated 21- my 23 is in 2 weeks but I'm in denial...I'm still 18 in my mind! Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the few who loooove airports, whether it's crazy and downtrodden or nice and clean. :) I've never been through the dreaded scanner though. Enjoy your birthday!
Love this skirt!

ReplyDeletethe skirt is really beutiful
ReplyDeleteMy Gawd! Check out that gorgeous view!! Meaning, of course, not only the mountains behind you but also YOU!! heehee
ReplyDeleteLove that ethereal, flowy skirt...this outfit is perfect for your surroundings.
Last time I flew, which was a couple weeks ago, I was really surprised that I didn't have to go through the machine or get a pat-down. For some reason, I thought everyone had to do one or the other (I don't fly much). Sorry you had such a rotten experience! At least you know you should be totally safe on a flight, I guess.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!
I HATE airports. I'm sorry that you had to go through the naked machine. That's so demeaning and embarrassing! It's sad that we have to resort to such measures just to get to places :(
ReplyDeleteGlad you got there safe though, that's what matters!
And happy birthday!
