I'm pretty sure this is the first set of indoor photos I've posted on this blog. I'll let you in on a not-so-secret secret: I don't really know how to take indoor photos. In fact, indoor photos scare me. That's why I've been braving the cold up until now, all in the name of "Two Eyes in the Mirror." But I took one look at the five-day weather forecast and said, "oh HELLZ no." Fact: no matter how much midwestern blood you have in you, no matter how much you love your blog, no matter how goddamn insane you are, single digit temperatures suck balls. So screw it, I'm staying inside.
I think the photos are do-able. They aren't kick-ass, but back off. I'm a sociologist, for feck's sake, not Annie Leibovitz.
And you know, really, this outfit is kind of boring. But all I did today was clean my house, and I'm sorry, but if you get dressed to the nines to clean your house, you weird, yo. I love you, but you weird.
Top: Urban Outfitters
Necklace: Banana Republic
Shorts: American Eagle
Your indoor shots are just as gorgeous - nice backgroundage indeed! Glad you're not freezing out in those crazy temperatures. Snow due to return big time in Ireland this weekend, eurgh.Very cute Urbs top!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great striped top, nonetheless! I've been on the hunt for scoop-neck Breton stripes, and this one is lovely!
ReplyDeleteFrankly, it's good to hear that even the rough-and-tough Minnesotans will stay indoors sometimes. But I'll accept that my transplanted-to-Minnesota Mason-Dixie-line ass is weak. I wouldn't brave what you've been braving so far.
xo
These pics of you are really beautiful! And I love your top!!

What are you talking about! These are 100000000 times better than my indoor shots...but thet is because I have to do them in my room to avoid my family looking at me like I'm crazy ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit :D
http://aclosetfashionista.blogspot.com/
you've seen super brave thus far! I can't believe you with your peeptoes out in the snow! Now that's dedication!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are still pretty awesome though! And you have beautiful eyes!
This post has so many quotable sentences. Also, please become a model. I'd buy all the clothes and then tell my friends, "I know this girl!"
ReplyDeleteAlso, your indoor photos are fab. I wish I had a red background. It makes you photos more interesting.
Haha, love what you wrote here, really evokes your personality!
ReplyDeleteDid you take these pictures in a indoor porch because the lighting is really great! I'm scared of taking indoor photos, too.
ReplyDeleteLove the stripes and your side pony! Cute outfit. I'm glad you don't clean your house in a ball gown and stiletto's because that would just be dangerous!
I actually like how the photos turned out... but your worries are exactly why I never take my photos inside. Apparently it's more flattering if you take a mirror to reflect the light from the windows towards your face or something like that...
ReplyDeleteand I like this outfit. Casual and cute.

I think these photos came out really well! I love your striped top x
ReplyDeleteLet me be serious for a moment. These pictures are significant because they reveal a side of you we haven't seen before. A vulnerable side, an almost-childlike innocence.
ReplyDeleteBy stripping away the layers of clothing you normally wear outdoors, you show us a more intimate view of yourself. And anyone with a heart will respond to that.
All of us have dimensions; it's wonderful to see more of yours. Beautiful portraits.
what? you don't wear stilettos and pearls to clean your house??
ReplyDeletelove your hair!
love the outfit against the red wall too
I love the tee!! cute!!

I've never in my life looked that cute to clean my house. Ever. You are just a bundle of cuteness. There, I said it.
ReplyDeleteI love that shirt. LOVE it. You totally made my day with your post. I could read your writing all day. Very relatable.
xoxo,
Tracy
Really? I think these photos look great! I love the red wall and the lighting looks awesome. That last photo is my favorite! And hey, at least you dress like a normal person, haha...no one wears platforms and a tulle skirt to clean their house, after all. I also love the tights + shorts! I've been looking for a dressier pair of shorts to pair with tights and boots.
ReplyDelete-Halie
I actually really like your indoor shots! I especially like the background - just makes you stand out more!!!! Youve got gorgeous eyes!
ReplyDeletexx
Hahaha! You're hilarious! You should see what I wear to clean my house...it ain't pretty. Love the cashz look!
ReplyDeleteTamera xo
You are freakin' gorgeous! And I'm glad you didn't not to brave the cold for once. You sacrifice way too much for this blog, girl! xo Sherrie
ReplyDeletethat striped top looks perfect paired with those shorts!
ReplyDeleteStriped tee and shorts! So wishing it was summer again.
ReplyDeleteAnd P.S. Just for you, I will put on my fanciest frock the next time I vaccuum. ;P
2 digit temperatures still suck .. especially when they are in the negatives. haha!! you still look great. i dont like indoor photos as well. oh dear..

You look amazing! Cool outfit:)
ReplyDeleteIt is not boring!! I love anything that involves a striped shirt!!! And esp if it is from UO!!! You are really rocking at your outfit photos!! I need to practice more!
ReplyDeleteXX
I on the other hand am afraid to do outside photos :)
ReplyDeleteI love your striped top and those little puffed sleeves!
I'm not sure I've ever seen you with your hair up! It really suits you :) And this outfit isn't boring! I really like it :) Esp the shorts :)
ReplyDeleteL x
I have yet to try the shorts and tights combo, but this REALLY makes me wanna go for it. They have to be the right kinda shorts, though. But I already have the perfect pair of tights that I've only worn once, and they'd be perfect to pair with shorts. Hmmm... Thanks for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteBut your outfit WOULD be dressing up for me if I were cleaning!! haha You'd be more likely to find me in sweats! But I wouldn't look nearly as cute cleaning as you.
Also, love the indoor photos. Sometimes a change of pace is nice, and you got the lighting down!
lovely pics !!
ReplyDeleteThose are some fab shots for indoor ones. Wish I had a great backdrop I could use for inside photos. I resorted to taking some in a shop yesterday - the staff thought me and my photographer were mad.
ReplyDeleteThese are great photos! So far, the low-teen temperature digits have been less frightening to me than the thought of finding a decently acceptable nook in my cluttered apartment to take a photo. Let alone start worrying about the light! You did great!
ReplyDeleteI don't think this outfit is boring in the least--- then again, I'm a sucker for a good ol' striped shirt. On others, not me. ;) I think your hair and makeup (your precious eyeeesss!!!) compliment the look perfectly.
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't realize you were a sociology major!! I took a few sociology classes and was THIS close to majoring in it. How do you like the curriculum? What classes are you enrolled in for this semester?
I love Sociology, that's half my major!
ReplyDeleteA very fashionable sociologist - love!

Ha ha, no one gets dressed up to clean the house do they? Oh dear. You look really great with your hair up too! X
ReplyDeleteahh, annie leibovitz. i love her. I also cannot get a good picture taken indoors. the lighting is always so useless!
ReplyDeleteI never get sick of stripes!
ReplyDeletei think you look stunning in these pictures! the american color vibe is perfection
ReplyDeletehttp://dressedupallligators.blogspot.com/
such lovely photos!
ReplyDeletereally love this simple but wonderful photo series
These photos are lovely too, indoors or not. Do people get dressed to clean? That would be rather hilarious to see. Nice colours. Love the necklace!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo! I much prefer outdoor pictures too, mostly because there really isn't a decent spot indoors for good photos/good lighting! These are pretty fab though. Loving the stripes on you!
ReplyDeleteOh my you are right. This one is really similar to mine....but then again they are both stripes, black and white....so yeah....how different can you really get???
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear you......I can't do indoor photos, in fact my camera can not do indoor photos. They turn out really weird and the photoshopping effort that I have to put in is not worth it. So even in negative temperatures and rain I brave the outside for 10 minutes max...minus proper winterwear. I still do not know what will I do if a blizzard hits....but oh well I'll cross that bridge when the time comes. :)
I am happy for you that these photos are gorgeous. They really are...and if my camera would have taken indoor photos like these I would have taken all my photos indoor. :)
Have a good weekend.
I really like these indoor shots, especially the second one! I like seeing whatever you wear- you are much better dressed than I am when I'm at home all day! :)
ReplyDeleteI like your t-shirts :) by the way you look nice, and nice blog

I stray away from indoor photos usually for the same reasons. I'll freeze my butt off for a few minutes to take some shots, but if I miss the sunlight hours for photo taking I will begrudgingly take them indoors but I'm never as happy with how they turn out.
