Falling snow + photographs sound like the ultimate combination in theory, but in execution? Not so much. If I wasn't forced to use auto-focus, I think it would have worked beautifully, but woe is the life of the self-photographer. Not very many of my pictures were useable, so I chose these and called it a day. Yes, snow is pretty and all, but it's a pain in the ass when a big flake of it replaces your mouth, or your eyeball, or creates a big, weird white blur on your crotch in photos. I mean, I'm pretty good at Photoshop, but have you ever tried to edit out a beam of light coming from your bathing suit area? Oh? You have? My bad...
I bought this scarf-thing back in September and wore it here. I saw it this morning and my first instinct was to throw it on with black tights and boots like before, but you know what? You gotta change it up a little bit, or you start to get boring. Plus I wouldn't last a day in those heels in this kind of weather.

Beautiful pictures! Love the way your hair contrast with the snow :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing outfit! And the last picture is so stunning!:o
ReplyDeleteWere do you live then? I'm so happy we had only 4 weeks of snow:D But it still doesn't feel very warm :)
<3
Oh my gosh, I love that you belted the scarf. It looks so fab! I really love this outfit :) I'm too much of a baby to go outside and take pictures while it's snowing.. at least not pictures of me because I'm too busy looking bundled up and bulky under 8000 layers!

your whole outfit exudes warmth during the winter times.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I love that you wore the scarf as a poncho-esque belted number. I love ponchos, I can't help myself.
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous as usual - the last picture is especially stunning.

Your Blog: We come for the pictures; we stay for the humor. You make me laugh every time. :)
ReplyDeleteYour Hair: In addition to the intrinsic beauty of its color, I like what it does to your complexion: the contrast of your skin-color is different from what it was with blonde hair. The contrast is greater, meaning your skin looks lighter and is more emphasized.
(It took a while of my staring at your face to realize why you look prettier now. I realize that sounds creepy but my intent was innocent. Believe me. Please!)
i love the boots! the snow looks pretty in the pics even though it was giving you trouble
ReplyDeleteCute poncho!
ReplyDeleteI really envy you for all that snow your having hehehe ;) it looks like fun!

LOL tell me about trying to edit out a big ball of light coming out of bathing suit area. :) I love snow like a kid but the beautiful angelic photographs are darn hard to achieve in real life and even more with a timer and tripod.

Yes, I know what you mean about the make-up... I stopped in Sephora yesterday JUST to pick up a lip-gloss and came away with 5 things instead.

Really chic! That poncho looks so cozy and the perfect protection against winter snow flakes. And by the way I love you hair color, red hair makes such a statement! http://thearcenciel.blogspot.com/

I had issues with photographing in snow, it does just seem to get in the way at the wrong moment! This scarf is so gorgeous! And it looks super warm, and I love it paired with jeans and boots :)

All that falling snow looks so gorgeous. And I love how warm you look in it - I think this is one of the warmest outfits I've ever seen you in haha. And I muuust say again - your new red hair is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnd I had no idea you took your own photos, it seriously looks like someone else is out there photographing you in most pictures. You're an awesome self-photographer, better than me anyways!

I really get to love red hair more and more, so many beautiful girls with red hair :)
I totally understand the difficulty in trying to take photos in the falling snow! I love how you belted the scarf. I thought it was a poncho at first. (?) Looking lovely as always!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are amazing. I love your scarf - I'm wearing a touch of tartan as well today.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of interest, how do you normally take your photos if you don't use autofocus?
well i think the photo's look really lovely
ReplyDeleteScrapbook de la Emma
love your cape!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley for your lovely comments! I love these shots, but I hear ya on the chance coverage snow can cause. I hope you realise though that that last shot in particular is an absolute KNOCKOUT! Stunning.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!!! The scarf is gorgeous and definitely the perfect thing to wear on those cold snowy days!!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog - I am following now!!

Well I think you did an amazing job of capturing the snow, these shots are beautiful! I mean the last one, really, wow!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of the 'blanket coat', and these pictures have turned out beautifully. Just gorgeous! I do know all about the frustrations of auto focus but not about sun rays in bathing suit areas. Obviously still got things to learn...
ReplyDeleteYep, snow can definitely be a "P in A" when it comes to outfit posts, but you look great! This scarf worn as a poncho looks amazing. Great concept:)

Amazing colours against the snow. Everytime I feel uncomfortable shooting in the wind/humidity/heat I remind myself that bloggers like you are braving inches of snow. Then I stop complaining ...a little!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Is this really you? You could be a model! ( maybe you already are?)..:)
ReplyDeleteI adore your outfits and combinations, very creative.

"Woe is the life of teh self-photographer." This totally made me laugh, because it's so true! I've attempted outfit shots of myself and it's turned into a disaster. Your pictures look marvelous, though!
ReplyDeleteI love this scarf so very much! I think I said the same thing another time when you wore it, and my abiding love has not shaken!
ReplyDeleteI was quite grateful my sister was here this weekend to take some of my outfit photos for just the same reason you mentioned! The snow flakes wreak havoc on my focusing abilities, an I hate when a flake morphs over my entire eye or gets caught in an unfortunate place on my clothing! So frustrating!
That's my kind of outfit. Cozy and comfy. The absolute best. Especially when it's cold. You look amazing, as always.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Tracy
I love your scarf and how gorgeous it looks belted. The winter wonderland photos you keep putting up are so beautiful!

Snow pictures are really hard, but I think you did a great job!

I never would've thought of belting scarves if it weren't for you! I'm afraid it will add too much bulk to my frame, but it doesn't on you at all, so I'm going to be brave and try it! :)
ReplyDeleteHi! I just found your blog through Ralph's and may I say that you look stunning!! (with your new hair colour and all). I'm a realist myself - cynical more like it - and I just appreciate people that speak from their hearts!! If you have nothing interesting to do with your time, check my baby blog:

ReplyDeletePretty set of photos. You are wonderfully photogenic. I don't think i'll ever have the chance of wearing a scarf belted to keep warm but i am totally contented to watch you being pretty in it.
