See Through You

^ That picture is just an excuse for me to show off my current favorite nail color: O.P.I. Sweet Heart. I've been loving nude nail colors lately!

So, I don't know how absolutely sold I am on the see-through shirt thing. Kinda feel like I'm giving away a free show. But, have no fear! I DO own a bunch of tank tops, so I'll be able to take this outfit to a professional setting (I have a somewhat professional internship starting in September) if I really want to.

I can't believe I'm up before 9 a.m. today! I'm off to clean my house, go to my summer class (one of several...), and then start my three-day weekend. What are your plans?

Roots

^ Captain McSquinty. Cannot. Handle. The sun!

The dress is actually supposed to be a robe, but in my opinion, that shit can totally be rocked as a dress. I bought it last summer at Anthropologie (in Las Vegas!)...damn bitch, I miss those days. I got out in public though and realized I should have worn a slip underneath...flashed the school parking lot my undies.

One thing you'll realize about me: I like wearing lingerie and loungewear as regular clothing. I think it's making up for the fact that I refuse to be seen in public in sweatpants...in fact, I don't even think I have a real pair. I do like the yoga pants, though. But I loooove Anthopologie's lounge section...how cute would this be as a dress!?

My roots are HORRIBLE! Getting my hair cut SOON.

New shoes

Somehow, I've managed to acquire four new pairs of shoes in the past five days.

The fourth pair are just a pair of tangerine Keds.

Normally, I feel obligated to spend a lot of money on shoes, but all of these pairs were under $50. The first two I bought impulsively at the mall when all I was supposed to be doing was killing time. It's not love or anything, but they're both surprisingly comfortable, and I'm kind of lacking in the comfortable flat department. I end up wearing Converse a lot. The third are Minnetonka moccasins, which I've been craving for over a year now. They are so comfy, I really wish I wouldn't have putted off buying them for so long. I'm considering these now, but those intimidate even me.

Also, Kelly tagged me (thank you!), so here we go:

1. What shoe size are you?
8 1/2. I used to be a 9 or 9 1/2, but apparently my feet lost weight.

2. Where do you work?
No where right now. I used to work in a coffee shop, though. Kind of.

3. Favorite piece of clothing you own:
Oh wow...I can't narrow it down to just one item. I love my jackets, dresses, and scarf collection the most.

4. Your favorite blog?
I don't play favorites.

5. Do you have any pets?
No, I'm allergic to most aminals. I have about twenty stuffed animal kitties, though (most of whom are referred to as "Mr. Cat").

6. How many siblings do you have?
Zero!

7. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I've always been attracted to California, and at least that's somewhat realistic. But in my dreams? Somewhere in Italy or France, I suppose!

8. What were you doing before this?
Working out, actually. *GASP*

9. Your favorite food?
It changes so often...tortellini. Although it makes me fat. I also really like muffins and Dairy Queen hot dogs. Yeah, I'm kinda gross.

10. Do you have a middle name?
Yes, I do, but I'm choosing not to share.

11. Your favorite websites?
Google.com

12. Who do you tag?
No one and everyone. If you want to do it, then you can say Ashley tagged you. :)

Jumpsuit + Floppy Hat?

My first what I wore today post, how exciting!

I bought this jumpsuit (okay, technically it's a romper I suppose, but jumpsuit just sounds more appealing to me for some reason...) last year because it reminded me of something Nikki Sixx would wear circa 1985.  Yes, yes, I know...most people would find that to be a huge turn off, no. 1:  because it is NOT 1985, and no. 2:  Nikki Sixx is a man.  But I was going through a phase and had to have it!  Unfortunately, it is not the best fitting piece of clothing I own.  In fact, it kinda sucks.  There is an elastic band/tie waist that is not actually at the natural waist, but rather a little bit lower.  This creates a faux-fupa, something that I'm pretty sure is not necessarily ideal.  Oh well, it's still fun.

An Introduction

Hello.  Hey.  Hi.  Yo.  My name is Ashley, and this is my new blog.

I could just leave it at that and start getting to the important entries, but, in my opinion, that would be kind of weird.  Like, HEY, LOOK AT ME.  YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME, BUT I THINK YOU SHOULD WANT TO MAKE PASSIONATE LOVE TO MY BLOG.  BECAUSE IT IS NEW.  AND GREAT.  OBVIOUSLY.   No.  I think an introductory blog entry is in order.  That way, it'll give you, the reader, (or, more realistically, you, the Google Spambot, because I highly doubt I'll have many readers at this early stage of the game anyway, unless I e-threaten everyone) a chance to decide if you like this random Ashley girl and the idea of her new blog or not.  You may totally love me and want to keep me.  Or you may be more of the, "Bitch is nuts.  GTFO my internetz," sentiment.  Who knows?  It'll be an adventure!

So, let's begin.  About the blog:  I do not know what this will be.  Really, I haven't the foggiest.  I mean, I can tell you the basics.  The entries are mainly going to be about fashion and cosmetics.  It's not going to be a nice little 50-50 split all of the time.  I go through rotating phases.  Sometimes, I am really obsessed with make-up.  As in, sephora.com could be my homepage.  But, other times, I'm all about the fashionz, putting on fancy outfits and thinking I'm the cat's meow (also known as "the shit").  Then, there are other times when I'm like, "Screw this.  I'm a poor college student.  Should I really be concerned about cosmetics and trends at a crucial time like this?!"  Basically, what I'm saying is, be prepared for anything.  Beauty reviews, what I want now sorts of posts, pictures of what I'm wearing today (and tomorrow!), random ramblings, etc.  And then there will probably be some dry spells, too.  I'm kind of flighty.  One day, I'll be reading and worshipping Vogue, and the next I'll be wearing sweatpants and a tee to school, completely enamored with this silly little thing called "my studies."

Please note that I am a complete amateur.  With the exception of recently applying for a cashier position at Ulta, I have no background in any of this, besides the 15 minutes I spend putting on make-up every morning and the 5 minutes to 4+ hours I spend planning outfits.  And the $$$ I regularly spend at Sephora, Nordstrom, and other favorite stores.  Okay, so maybe I'm a pretty seasoned amateur.  Or just a really obsessed one.

As for me...I'm a 20 year old girl.  Senior in college, studying sociology and psychology.  I live in a mid-size town that I am looking very forward to leaving in less than a year.  I think of myself as relatively average, except for the fact that I'm a nerd.  I'm not rolling in the dough, but I do have a house.  I'm not extremely obese, but I like my cookies.  I'll be the first to point out my flaws.  I like to stay busy, or rather, I like to stay productive.  I have a difficult time relaxing.  I find it very hard to simply sit through a movie or watch TV without doing something else at the same time (i.e. reading, surfing the internet).  I am kind of looking forward to living in the suburbs some day.  I don't have a musical bone in my body.  I don't care much for thrift stores.  My favorite type of day is basically overcast, windy, and kind of chilly.  I like to bake muffins, but I hate cleaning up after I'm done.

I think that gives you a basic summary of my very exciting, enticing, and excruciatingly entertaining self, who absolutely adores the art of alliteration.  Shit.  Oh, and I should probably mention, I curse a lot.  Probably not as bad as a sailor, maybe more like a deckhand, but you catch my drift.  I'll try to steer as clear as I can from dropping too many F-bombs, since I'm trying to clean up "my act," but it does happen now and again.

Stay tuned for fun entries of actual substance, coming soon to a screen near you!

P.S.  I've linked some of my favorite blogs over to your left.  If you have a fashion or beauty blog and want to do a link exchange, let me know!
